About Us

HR Squared delivers peace of mind and practical solutions for complex HR problems, including employee and labor relations strategy, management training, workplace culture, union avoidance, and union negotiations.

Our Owner, Brian Ussery, is a senior human resources consultant with more than 25 years of experience advising employers on complex employee relations, labor relations, and workplace compliance matters. His career uniquely blends senior in-house executive leadership with extensive management-sided legal practice, allowing him to deliver practical, business-focused solutions grounded in real-world operational experience.

Brian has served in executive leadership roles for some of the country’s most recognized brands, including Walt Disney Parks & Resorts and Omni Hotels & Resorts. In these roles, he provided strategic oversight for the negotiation and administration of dozens of collective bargaining agreements, representing workforces numbering in the thousands. He has created and led preventative labor relations strategies designed to preserve and strengthen direct employer–employee relationships, while effectively managing unionized environments and mitigating labor risk.

Prior to transitioning fully into executive and consulting roles, Brian spent nearly two decades as a management-sided labor and employment attorney with nationally recognized law firms counseling employers on all aspects of labor and employment law. He represented management in litigation and arbitration, helped with the creation of sound workplace policies, and led management training.
