Description

The Chamber welcomes as its January speaker Mr. Darwin Myers, TxDOT Area Engineer for Rockwall, Kaufman and Navarro.   Mr. Myers will discuss the status of current TxDOT construction projects, upcoming projects and maintenance in Rockwall County.   He will also have an update on the PGBT Eastern Extension to IH 30.

Darwin began working with TxDOT in 1984 following graduation from Lamar University and has worked in Corsicana his entire career.   He has worked on numerous design and construction projects in the county and was named assistant area engineer in 1989.   In 1993, he was named Area Engineer and has continued to oversee the design, construction, maintenance and operation of the highways in Navarro County.   In September 2008 he was named interim area engineer for Kaufman County and in February 2009, named area engineer for Kaufman, Navarro and Rockwall Counties.   He and the employees in the Kaufman and Navarro County design roadway construction projects, inspect the construction of highways and bridges, maintain highways and oversee signing, signals, striping and other maintenance.
 
Darwin has served on the Board of Directors for the Corsicana YMCA and the Corsicana Education Foundation.   He has coached soccer, softball and baseball for many years and is involved in community activities.
 
Darwin is married to Donna, who teaches third grade at Kerens Elementary School, and they have three children.   Leslie is married and a graduate of Lamar University.   Kristi has graduated from Navarro College and entering nursing school.  Aaron is a senior at Corsicana High School. Darwin and his family attend Northside Baptist Church in Corsicana where they are involved in the orchestra and youth ministry.
